  REVIEW:

Haven’t seen it yet?  Well, Lucky You!

Lucky You stars Eric Bana as a obsessed professional poker player in Las Vegas. His estranged father is played by Robert Duvall. He's also a professional poker player so there's quite a bit of animosity between them. Drew Barrymore has just arrived in Vegas to sing. She meets Eric and he teaches her the game. Really he's just using her to get the money he needs to enter the World Series of Poker Tournament. So in a movie with Drew Barrymore and Eric Bana...there's got to be a romance. Well, not in this case. This movie is really just all about playing poker.

Lucky You is a silly, unrealistic depiction of a compulsive gambler doing what compulsive gamblers do – gambling!  The poker play is so dominate in this that what little bit of a story actually seeps through is both uninteresting and unconvincing.  If you enjoy watching cards being dealt and chips being counted, then maybe this is a movie for you.  Otherwise, the odds on enjoying Lucky You are slim to none . . . or, rather, none.

  MOVIE NIGHT TRAFFIC LIGHT:

On the Movie Night Traffic Light on a scale of GREEN meaning “Go – it’s a must see”, YELLOW meaning “Caution – it’s okay” and RED meaning “No - stop don’t do it."

We rate Lucky You RED.  Stop – this one is bad.
